Service Rules

Work Hours

2.1            For School Domestic Staff, office hours are 0710 to 1500 hours, Monday to Friday and 0900 hours to 1300 hours on Saturday.

2.2            For Teachers, office hours are 0745 hours to 1410 hours, Monday to Thursday and 0745 hours to 1230 hours on Friday.  In addition, Teachers may be required to stay back for up to 2 hours for one day every week.

2.3            For Administrative Staff, office hours are 0745 hours to 1500 Monday to Friday.

2.4            For Office Staff, office hours are 0800 to 1600 hours on Monday to Friday with a one hour lunch break starting at 1330 hours; and 0900 hours to 1300 hours on Saturday.

Three late arrivals or two half day offs shall be treated as an absence.

Leave

3.1            All confirmed employees are allowed 1 Casual Leave every month and 5 Medical Leaves in a calendar year.

3.2            For a leave to qualify as Casual Leave, staff shall notify the School by 0800 hours on the day of the leave, but are strongly advised to inform the School a day in advance.

3.3            Failing notification as detailed above, the staff shall be marked absent.  Absences shall be treated as leave without pay.

3.4            For leaves or absences on days of the adjacent to a holiday shall be treated as leave or absence.

3.5            The School Head shall have the authority to waive the incidence of paragraph 3.4; however, the School Head will report such waivers to the School Committee.

3.6            All confirmed female staff shall be allowed 40 calendar days in maternity leave for a maximum of two maternities, provided there is due notice, and provided the staff has completed one year of service.

Vacations

4.1            Confirmed School Domestic Staff, teachers and Administrative Staff enjoy 45 calendar days off during summer vacation and 9 calendar days off during winter vacations. Payless leave or extended summer leave is granted only in special circumstances.

4.2            Administrative Staff and Domestic Staff enjoy 30 calendar days off during summer vacation. The dates for such leave is proposed and approved prior to commencement of the summer vacation.

4.3            Office Staff is allowed one month’s paid leave upon written application and approval.

4.4            School Domestic Staff, Teachers and Administrative Staff enjoy all holidays granted to the students except for summer vacations and such special holidays as are notified.

Compensation

5.1            Salary is paid in arrears on or before the 10th of every month and after deduction of income tax.

5.2            Deductions shall be made for absences during the month. One extra day’s salary shall be paid if the staff has a perfect attendance record during the relevant month.

5.3            Staff is not paid for the summer and winter vacations with the following exceptions::

a.              all confirmed staff is paid for June and for the winter                  vacations;

b.              confirmed staff that continues his/her employment once school reopens after the summer is paid for July; July salaries are paid at the time of payment of August salaries.

5.4            Staff employed for at-least one year at the time of the increment shall be considered for increments.

Separation

6.1            Notwithstanding anything contained in any other document executed, staff is entitled to resignation upon one full month’s notice. If notice is not provided, or the notice period is of less than a full working month, one whole month’s salary will be deducted by the school.

6.2            The school will clear dues of separated staff one month after the last working day of the staff.

6.3            The School is entitled to terminate the services of any of the staff upon one month’s notice or pay in lieu of notice.

Retirement

7.1            The retirement age is 58 years. Staff above this age automatically stands retired.

7.2            Staff above the retirement age may be offered employment on contract.

Concessions

8.1            Full admission fee and 66% of tuition fee is waived for children of such permanent employees that have worked for the school for over a year.

Advances

9.1            Subject to the discretion of the school management, all confirmed employees are entitled to a maximum of Rs 10,000/- in staff advance, re-payable in ten equal installments. Such advances will require guarantees of three other employees who have served for more than 2 years.

9.2            If a guarantor leaves the organization, the borrower shall arrange a replacement before the next pay day of the borrower. The borrower’s salary shall be withheld till such time as another guarantor is arranged by the borrower.

These service rules do not apply to contract employees. Contract employment is governed entirely by the contract with such employees.

Capitalized terms are defined in employment contracts or governance documents of the school.
